As I walked down the lonely path;
My head was filled with all sorts of math.
Tumbleweeds rolled across the street-
Straight ahead was where the sky and water meet.
Mind eked full of a hazy turmoil;
Spinning and sliding faster than spilt oil.
“Road to Paradise”, they asked me to describe.
Asking me what ’tis was; was a massive jibe.
A cozy log house amongst a torrid storm;
Reading a novel nestled in a moonlit home?
“What is Paradise?”- my heart sought answer to
” ‘Tis too hard to say”, my mind replied with no further ado.
Was it where the birds took flight?
Was it the stars scattered amongst a starry night?
Was it the end of a vibrant rainbow?
Was it the reflection of the chromeish sunset low?
Confusion made me sigh and cry-
The answer to this question shall haunt me till I die!
The path I took was sandy and rough
I wiped away sweat. Oh, this journey was tough!
“Enlighten me, Oh enlightened one!”
I screamed until my throat was dry, and done.
A man showed up, quite simple and shy.
I hastened my speed, and walked up to thy.
“Are you here to bestow the blow?
The answer to the question- do you wish to show?”
The man smiled a knowing smile
One which seemed to warm up a mile.
Shoulders relaxed; my mind calmed down.
His mere confidence seemed to wipe my frown.
A road to paradise, thou wish to seek?
The answer lies where your mind is at peak.
Thou shall wander, and wander; and not
stop at all.
But the road you seek shall never come fall.
Paradise is where your soul is calm.
Where your head is free- where you need no balm.
‘Tis where you feel like you’re home again
Where sorrows die, and where ecstacy began.
Where you feel you’re ebullient and gay.
‘Tis where you feel the fine urge to play.
Paradise is where you feel at peak
The place where you stop to feel weak.
The road to Paradise? It does not exist,
If you’re happy where you are-
You got the gist?”
I nodded my head. “Thank you wise man,
You answered the question at the drop of a hand.
Thank you for the answer. I perceive-
Paradise is everywhere,
as long as you BELIEVE.”
